The best-known nightlife area in Barcelona is along La Ramblas, the boulevard that runs through the centre of the city to the harbour front. It is along here that there are many small bars and clubs that cater to all music tastes and age groups. Most of the bars along La Ramblas start off as cafes, and the clientele gradually shifts over the course of the evening until they become lively nightclubs later on.

Barcelona is popular with stag groups and hen nights, and La Ramblas can get a bit rowdy as the evening progresses, but there are plenty of other places to relax and unwind. Close to Monument a Colom on the harbour front, there are a number of modern bars, and clubs to choose from that tend to cater to a more upmarket crowd than the touristy bars downtown, and it is not unusual to see the stars of FC Barcelona surrounded by their fans.

Eating out in Barcelona is a great experience. There are many different sorts of restaurants serving a variety of cuisines from all over the world. Tapas is a Spanish tradition, and a great way to enjoy your evening is to move from one bar to another enjoying a few snacks in each rather than having a single meal.
